Ostrava again achieves an improved rating
International rating agency Moody's has increased the City of Ostrava's rating for the fourth year in a row. The City now has its higher ever rating: Aa3/stable. Again Ostrava has achieved the highest rating available to it, equal to the Czech Republic's rating.
NEW CONTAINER TERMINAL TO RISE IN THE MOŠNOV ZONE, CONNECTING OSTRAVA AIRPORT AND INDUSTRIAL ZONE WITH THE PORT OF ANTWERP BY RAIL
The Moravian-Silesian Region, Statutory City of Ostrava, the Railway Administration Authority (SŽDC), Concens Investments and Antwerp Port Authority will cooperate in developing a new container terminal in the strategic Mošnov industrial zone. On September 18, 2019 they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to start this new project, called the Mosnov Multimodal Transport Terminal.
Ostrava already knows the look of its new trams
The Ostrava Public Transport Company (DPO) unveiled the design of its new Škoda ForCity Smart trams, which will be deployed in Ostrava next autumn. Ostrava will be the first city in the Czech Republic and Central Europe to have Škoda ForCity Smart trams in operation.

New Concert Hall - A world-class design architecture for Ostrava
The City of Ostrava announced one of the most important architectural competitions in its history last August. The winner of the combined two-round international architectural and urbanistic competition for concert hall was selected almost a year after the competition announcement. The winner selected by jury made up of renowned experts is Steven Holl Architects + Architecture Acts studio based in New York.
The new greenery will contribute to improving the air in Ostrava
More than five tens of millions of Czech crowns from the European funds will be awarded to a project to help improve the Ostrava city's air. It becomes the first city in the country to receive a grant from the European Union's Community Program.
City offers the Nové Lauby project for sale
The Nové Lauby vacant lot with an area of 3,188 m2 is located in the Ostrava city centre between the Velká, Muzejní, Pivovarská and Dlouhá Streets. In accordance with the land-use permit, which became final this June, the vacant lot should be occupied by a new residential block.

TABLE TENNIS EUROPEAN YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE RETURNING TO OSTRAVA AFTER SIX YEARS
From 7–16 July this year, Ostrava will host the Table Tennis European Youth Championships. The city will welcome over 600 of Europe's top junior and cadet players from 45 countries, who will compete for 14 sets of medals.
Ostrava has the highest possible rating in the country
The rating agency Moody's updated the City of Ostrava's rating . The City's rating was confirmed as A1 with positive outlook. This excellent rating was based on a detailed analysis of the City's financial management during the past year, its current financial situation, and the future outlook in the context of projected economic, political, demographic and other developments.
Moravian-Silesian Region and the City of Ostrava are introducing smart technologies
The Moravian-Silesian Region and the City of Ostrava participated in Urbis Smart City Fair, which focuses on the concept of smart cities. Its second year took place on 5–6 June at the Brno Exhibition Centre. Smart technologies of the Region and the City were presented using augmented reality.
Landscape Festival begins in Ostrava
On Thursday 30 May, a four-month-long festival focusing on landscape, urban planning and public space was launched in Ostrava: LANDSCAPE FESTIVAL OSTRAVA 2019. This is the seventh Landscape Festival to be held in the Czech Republic, and this year's event turns its attention to Ostrava's distinctive urban fabric. The aim of the festival is to strengthen links between the historic city centre and the Lower Vítkovice complex.
Ostrava Transport Company to build “smart stops”
The concept of a smart stop is an innovative approach in the concept of systems for smart cities. The current form of the stop can be decided by the citizens themselves. The results of their vote will be presented by the authors of the project in early June. The Ostrava Transport Company will then ensure the implementation of the winning design.
