On the non-urgent green line you can 24 hours report troubles or damages on public beneficial devices, f.ex. damaged benches, ticket automats, timetables, street lights out of order or traffic signals on crossings, troubles with distribution or water nets, impassable pavements, untreated green. Citizens can report black dump, found dead animals and other things there, too.
A unique plot of land in the heart of Ostrava next to 28. října St. – a plot known as the “Ostrava Teardrop” because of its shape – is being sold by the City to an Ostrava-based company which plans to build a commercial and office development incorporating a hotel and apartments.
The deadline for submitting offers is 31 July 2020 for both sites.
Postponing rent due date, remission of rent, fast financial aid up to CZK 20 000 or a grant programme up to CZK 100 000. These are the possibilities the City of Ostrava is now preparing for small entrepreneurs who cannot carry out their business activities as the consequence of the government emergency measures related to COVID-19.
Financial donations of up to 100 000 CZK are available to applicants who run a business in Ostrava (or who have a business with its registered address and the majority of its activities in Ostrava) if their annual income is below 18 million CZK. Applications can be submitted between 1 May and 13 May.
The Czech government has announced a state of emergency which came into effect on 12 March 2020 and will last until 30 April. Movement of persons is limited throughout the country. The borders of the Czech Republic are closed. Most markets are closed, retail sales are also restricted.
The first vending machines selling face masks and other protective medical items were installed in Ostrava. On Tuesday the machines were stocked up with face masks, single-use sterile gloves, and disinfectant gels. They are available to the public at 21 locations throughout the city.

The Ostrava Public Transport Company (DPO) unveiled the design of its new Škoda ForCity Smart trams, which will be deployed in Ostrava next autumn. Ostrava will be the first city in the Czech Republic and Central Europe to have Škoda ForCity Smart trams in operation.
More than five tens of millions of Czech crowns from the European funds will be awarded to a project to help improve the Ostrava city's air. It becomes the first city in the country to receive a grant from the European Union's Community Program.

The City of Ostrava is announcing a fresh architectural competition to decide on the design for a new parking garage that will be built on a site near the City of Ostrava Cultural Centre. The location is a highly visible and lucrative site next to the Regional Authority building.
From 7–16 July this year, Ostrava will host the Table Tennis European Youth Championships. The city will welcome over 600 of Europe's top junior and cadet players from 45 countries, who will compete for 14 sets of medals.
