Traditional Charity Bike Ride Supports Children with Cancer
On Sunday, May 31, 2025, the second stage of the popular charity bike ride Na kole dětem (On Bikes for Children) set off in front of Ostrava’s New City Hall. The cyclists, who had just arrived from Dolní Vítkovice, were welcomed by Ostrava Mayor Jan Dohnal before continuing their journey toward Slopné, the final destination of the day’s stage.

This year marks the 16th edition of the well-loved charitable event.
The first stage, which began in Bruntál, concluded in Ostrava. Around one hundred cyclists participated in the continuation of the ride through Příbor, Valašské Meziříčí, Leskovec, Valašská Polanka, Horní Lideč, Tichov, and ultimately Slopné. The second stage alone covered a total of 132 kilometers. This year’s edition of the project consists of nine stages in total, with the final leg scheduled for June 7, 2025, from Zichovec to Toužim.
Participants were able to support the cause in multiple ways — by donating a voluntary entry fee, purchasing themed t-shirts or promotional items, or simply by contributing to the public fundraising account of the Na kole dětem foundation (account number: 107-484410267/0100). Even those unable to join the ride can still make a meaningful impact.
The charity ride is held under the patronage of Ostrava’s Mayor Jan Dohnal.
