The 16th edition of the popular Ostrava Museum Night kicks off on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Around 30 museums, galleries, schools, and other institutions across Ostrava will open their doors late into the night, offering fun and enriching experiences for all ages. As in previous years, the event will begin in front of the New City Hall on Prokeš Square.

Ostrava Mayor Jan Dohnal will launch the evening at 5:45 p.m. The theme of this year’s event is "Signals", and the City of Ostrava is once again a proud partner.

Both the New City Hall and Prokeš Square will host a wide range of activities for visitors. From 6:00 p.m., guided tours of the New City Hall—including normally inaccessible areas—will take place. This year’s event is particularly special, as it marks the first Museum Night since the New City Hall was designated a national cultural monument on July 1, 2024. Visitors will also have a chance to meet the mayor in his office. The last tour departs at 11:00 p.m. Reservations can be made at https://1url.cz/LJuvQ.

From 6:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., the City Hall tower will be open to the public, offering breathtaking views of the illuminated cityscape. Inside the building's foyer, guests can explore an exhibition of historic radio receivers, including military radiotelegraph devices.

“I always look forward to Museum Night,” said Mayor Dohnal. “People are genuinely interested in what's happening in Ostrava. The informal conversations in my office often revolve around current and future projects. It’s a pleasure to engage with residents in this way, and I believe everyone will find something to enjoy.”

Meanwhile, Prokeš Square will transform into a "Space Mission" zone, with glowing models of the planets and the Sun. Families can take part in fun competitions and children can solve a secret code using Morse signals in a special adventure game. Local leisure centers will showcase their activities, and representatives from crisis and social services—including children and family centers—will be available to inform the public.

Czech Radio will broadcast live from the square and host a presentation as part of the program. A stage will feature live music and theater performances by artists including Adan Sanchez, Jumping Drums, DJ Zeppelin with violinist Violinist, and the children’s theater group Ententýky. The event will be hosted by Robert Galia. A wide range of refreshments will also be available.

Free shuttle buses provided by the Ostrava Transport Company will help visitors travel between venues, and the company will also open its depot of historic vehicles for tours.

Entry to all Museum Night events is free of charge. Full details are available at: www.ostravskamuzejninoc.cz
