In recent years the Czech Republic has experienced a boom in shared services centres (SSCs). These centres represent an ideal option for modern, dynamic companies seeking to achieve cost savings and improve process efficiency. The core area for SSCs at present is IT, though they also provide accountancy, legal and human resources services.

The influx of investors to the Moravian-Silesian Region has stimulated Ostrava’s economy and enabled the city to become the third most important location in the Czech Republic for shared services centres. Among the largest SSCs in Ostrava are Okin BPS, Tieto Czech, and CGI IT Czech Republic.

Ostrava’s success in supporting this type of business – which not only makes the city more attractive for potential investors but also directly generates new jobs – has been recognized by the independent BizPoland Media Group which recently announced the results of its 4th annual CEE Shared Services & Outsourcing Awards. Ostrava has been shortlisted for the 2015 award in the category “Emerging City of the Year – CEE”. On 4 February 2016 the jury will meet to select the city that has been most successful in developing shared services centres – stimulating the job market and helping to attract valuable new investments.
