Mounted Police Show in Komenského Sady
This Saturday, 30 August 2025, Komenského sady will once again host the 27th edition of the popular International Mounted Police Meeting. Visitors can look forward to captivating demonstrations of teamwork between rider and horse, presented by mounted police units from the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Germany. Admission is free.

Among the competitors will be Ostrava’s own Mounted Unit of the Municipal Police, joined by colleagues from Brno, Zlín, Liberec, and Prague. In total, 21 horses and riders will compete in three categories: the Cross-Country Show Jumping Cup of the Director of Ostrava Municipal Police, the Pairs Mirror Jumping Cup of the Mayor of Ostrava, and the Special Police Show Jumping Cup of the Director of the Ostrava Police Directorate.
The event, held under the auspices of Ostrava’s Mayor Jan Dohnal, promises a dynamic and engaging spectacle, showcasing the unique partnership of horse and rider in ensuring public safety. As Mayor Dohnal noted:
„This event is a reminder of the long tradition of cooperation between humans and horses, which benefits the whole community. It highlights the skill, persistence, and dedication needed to train both rider and horse—values that remain just as important today.”
Visitors can also enjoy a varied accompanying programme, including demonstrations of four-in-hand driving with Old Kladruber horses presented by experts from the National Stud at Kladruby nad Labem. Activities for children will be provided by prevention officers from the Ostrava Municipal Police.
