Swedish pole vault world record holder Duplantis will return to Ostrava for the fourth time, aiming to beat his own meet record of 6.12 meters from 2023. Greek challenger Emmanouil Karalis is also set to compete, promising a thrilling duel between two world-class vaulters. “The atmosphere in Ostrava is electric. The crowd is close, and the conditions are great. I might even go for the meet record—or higher,” said Duplantis.
Ostrava will also welcome Olympic javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, India’s athletic icon and reigning world champion, who is now coached by Czech legend Jan Železný. Chopra, who narrowly missed last year’s event due to injury, is thrilled to finally compete: “Zlatá tretra is legendary. I feel strong, and I hope to throw far. See you in Ostrava!”
Fans can also look forward to appearances by Haruka Kitaguchi, Amálie Švábíková, Tomáš Staněk, Karolína Maňasová, and many more. Sprinter Gout Gout will take on the 200m, with an eye on Usain Bolt’s 2008 meet record of 19.83 seconds.
The event also celebrates a new partnership with Bimystake, a Czech sportswear brand creating sustainable, high-performance gear for elite athletes.
The main event takes place on Tuesday, June 24, starting at 18:00. A fan zone opens at 14:30, featuring autograph sessions, souvenirs, sustainable catering, and more. Tickets are available from 190 CZK at www.zlatatretra.cz, with special group rates for schools and sports clubs.
