29/9 2025

Today, 29 September 2025, at precisely 1:00 p.m., the deadline expired for the four remaining participants in the architectural competition to refine their proposals for the New Bazaly football stadium. This time frame had been set by the Statutory City of Ostrava at the end of June, and the finalists were tasked with incorporating feedback provided by the evaluation panel into their original designs.

The revised proposals will now be assessed by an international jury chaired by renowned Irish architect Valerie Mulvin. The jury will issue a recommendation upon which the City Council will base its decision regarding the final winner. The winning design is expected to be announced in November, in approximately five weeks’ time.

Due to the necessity of ensuring complete transparency, the architectural competition is being conducted under strict anonymity. As such, no information regarding the individual proposals or their authors can be disclosed at this stage. However, once a winner has been selected, the Statutory City of Ostrava will publish all nine designs submitted during the course of the competition.

The architectural “Battle for Bazaly” has attracted considerable interest. Nearly thirty studios from around the world applied to take part. The city subsequently invited ten of them to submit entries. In response, it received nine proposals, from which four finalists were selected.
