Slaughterhouse to be transformed into a cultural centre

An International Cultural Centre is to be built in the buildings annexed to the City slaughterhouse. After the renovation, the centre will offer artists and the public with spaces for dance, lectures, concerts, theatre, fine arts, as well as accommodation for guest artists.

As of last June, the Labour Office registered a total of 13,748 job seekers in Ostrava, of which 6,969 were women. There are 2.2 job seekers per vacancy. The unemployment rate reached 5.8% in Ostrava, 4.7% in the Moravian-Silesian Region and 2.9% in the Czech Republic.

First collaborative robots in Ostrava

The Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre (MSIC) plans to build an industrial competence centre. One of the concrete steps leading to the launch of this project was also the establishment of the collaborative robots centre, which has recently been opened at MSIC.

Last September, the City invited prospective buyers to submit their offers for an investment project in the Hrušov development zone. Four offers were received by April 30. The City Assembly also determined the ranking of the prospective buyers, and the City will negotiate the sale of the land with these prospective buyers in that order.

At the end of May, there were 14,097 people in the Ostrava contact point register. There were 1,515 job seekers in May. The share of unemployed persons reached 6% in Ostrava. The Moravian-Silesian Region has ranked first in terms of the share of unemployed persons compared to other regions of the Czech Republic.

Another sports centre nearing completion

At the beginning of the holidays, Ostrava will inaugurate the new part of the in-line centre "Cementárna". It is an expansion of the first phase opened in September 2014. It will include 1,600 meters of track, tennis courts, a skate park, parkour training grounds and a pumptrack. The project involved the renovation of roads and pavements, and an expansion of the parking lot built in the first stage. Added were resting places with benches, bicycle stands and trash cans. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Friday 29 June.

City is selling prime land in central Ostrava
