Ostrava's planned new concert hall is fast becoming a reality. Following on from four previous successful architectural competitions for other projects, the City has announced a new competition for a design of the new concert hall, combined with the modernization of the City of Ostrava Cultural Centre (Dům kultury města Ostravy). Chassix Inc. company has just announced that the Ostrava, Czech Republic team successfully produced their very first set of trial castings on the 22nd, August 2018. The team worked very hard and the headquarters is very proud of them.
Ostrava produces innovative ideas, which also succeed in pan-European competition. One of these companies is Invent Medical, which revolutionizes this conservative market with its breakthrough solution for the production of orthotic and prosthetic devices using state-of-the-art technologies – 3D scanning, artificial intelligence and 3D printing.
The renovation of the space between Komerční banka and Prosperita Palace near Elektra tram stop is finished. New granite tiles, special lighting, new trees, street furniture and pillars for artwork are all in their places.
The attractiveness of public transport depends on the accessibility, safety, reliability and quality of the system; an important contribution in this regard is the simple and easy system of payment. Besides standard single-journey or time-valid tickets, all of Ostrava's public transport vehicles accept standard contactless bank cards. The Bazaly football stadium will be transformed into a modern training complex. It will be used as a football academy designed for talented players from across the region. Young players will benefit from up to five playgrounds and service facilities, including an in-door running track.
A lively, modern multi-purpose centre has been gradually emerging in the Nová Karolina area since 2008. In the residential complex building F is now undergoing final works before its final inspection in September. There are last few available apartments left for sale.

The Continental Cup, the third largest athletics competition after the Olympic Games and the World Cup, will be held in Ostrava on 8 and 9 September. The best of the world’s athletes will be competing in Ostrava for two days. The Continental Cup is a reward for our city for the successful organization of sports events such as the World Ice Hockey Championship, the European Table Tennis Championship, the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup, the Golden Spike and more.
Change the streets, complete the squares or parks and other public spaces according to their own ideas - such a possibility has been offered to active citizens or non-profit organizations by a subsidy programme for the revitalization of public space in the city.
This year, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of Czechoslovakia. This important historical jubilee is connected with 28 October 1918, when an independent Czechoslovak state was proclaimed. For the Czech Republic, this day is a public holiday and an occasion for celebrations and memorial events. A year-long project to honour this anniversary was also proclaimed by the City of Ostrava. It includes exhibitions, concerts, and lectures, events for children and adults, and publications.
More than 180 speakers from 25 countries around the world will be part of the third edition of the international Meltingpot discussion forum, which will take place from July 18-21 at the Colours of Ostrava festival in the industrial area of Dolni Vítkovice. There will be the personalities of many fields of human thinking – from politics, culture, science, education, travel, economics to personal development.
