On the non-urgent green line you can 24 hours report troubles or damages on public beneficial devices, f.ex. damaged benches, ticket automats, timetables, street lights out of order or traffic signals on crossings, troubles with distribution or water nets, impassable pavements, untreated green. Citizens can report black dump, found dead animals and other things there, too.
The largest and most modern filling station for CNG (compressed natural gas) in the Czech Republic was commissioned by the Ostrava Transport Company in Hranečník garages. This is another step towards the greening of public transport in the city.
Hundreds of new parking spaces will be built near the City Centre. In the wider centre, there will be traffic changes and restrictions in the first quarter of next year, contributing to greater protection for residents. The currently free parking spaces will be reserved for the "A" and "R" card holders.
From 8 to 10 October, Munich hosted the 21st Annual Expo Real, the prestigious international trade fair for real estate and investment. This year's Czech presentation was the largest in the history of Expo Real. The entire Czech exposition was coordinated by Ostrava.

A part of the industrial zone "Nad Porubkou" which has long been unused is finally awaking. The Industrial Park welcomed its first tenants and investors. It also has a new name – NP AREA (formerly Soltex). Following the branch of the logistics company TNT Express Worldwide, High Lite Touring has built its office and storage facility. Talks with other tenants are ongoing.
17 new projects are planned for the Ostrava City Hospital – documentation processing, investment realization, repairs and purchase of equipment with a total value of almost CZK 61.5 million.
Taking place from Wednesday to Saturday, the prestigious ISU Junior Grand Prix will have a busy schedule full of national and international figure-skating champions. Spectators can look forward to a record 130 competitors from 37 countries from around the world.
A new Collaborative Robotics Centre has been opened at the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre (MSIC) in Ostrava, in cooperation with the Moravian-Silesian Automotive Cluster. The new centre will act as a magnet for know-how in this rapidly emerging field; it will enable all companies from the Region to test and pilot their collaborative robotics technologies prior to full implementation.
46 successful projects submitted by eight institutions have been allocated over 55 million core-hours in the IT4 Innovations National Supercomputing Centre. The projects with the greatest amount of allocated computation time fall within the field of material science.
The Karolina area – directly adjacent to Ostrava's historic city centre and now the location of a brand-new modern quarter – represents an outstanding opportunity for development. The City is offering for sale a premium site at Karolina; the land – which is in the shape of a teardrop – is on level ground and covers an area of almost 8 300 m2. By freeing up the land for development, the City of Ostrava is supporting a further expansion of the city centre to strengthen the links between the historic part of the centre and the modern Karolina quarter, with its residential complex, office facilities and retail/entertainment mall.
The Board of Directors of the Ostrava Transport Company (DPO) and subsequently its Supervisory Board unanimously approved the purchase of 40 new trams for 200 persons for CZK 1.9 billion from Škoda Transportation. ForCity Smart, the latest generation of trams, will carry the first passengers in Ostrava in the autumn of 2020. Ostrava will be the first city in the Czech Republic and Central Europe to have these trams in operation.
The 2018/2019 concert season of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava is stellar, without any doubt. Elite musicians have accepted the invitation to perform with the Ostrava orchestra. First of all, we must mention the three winners of the most difficult and also the most prestigious music competition – the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels. Visitors can look forward to excellent pianists – Boris Giltburg (2013 winner) and the biggest Czech star Lukáš Vondráček (2016 winner), and the Latvian violinist Baita Skride (2001 winner).
Have you ever heard of the open-source software Blender, a comprehensive 3D visualization software? Experts from the IT4Innovation National Supercomputing Centre in Ostrava started to use Blender during collaboration with physicians from the University Hospital Ostrava. They are developing a unique tool to display and process medical data in the form of computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
On 15 and 16 September 2018, Ostrava will host the 18th NATO Days, the largest security-focused event in Europe, and promises a busy programme filled with static demonstrations and a commemoration of the 100th anniversary of independent Czechoslovakia and its armed forces. At the same time, Leoš Janáček Airport in Mošnov will host the 9th annual Air Force Days of the Czech Army. The event is organized by Jagello 2000, and the city of Ostrava is one of its partners.
Servistica, a newly-founded investor company for the development of modern high-tech technologies, is building a development laboratory for the emergence of farmbots at the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre (MSIC) in Ostrava.
Airmobis is an international engineering studio. It provides aerodynamic calculations to European and global aircraft manufacturers and also develops an unmanned airplane – the Condor. In the middle of this year, the start-up also established a subsidiary in the Moravian-Silesian Innovation Center Ostrava (MSIC).
In Ostrava there will be athletic masters of all continents, come to cheer for the most prestigious team competition in athletics in the world.
Ostrava's planned new concert hall is fast becoming a reality. Following on from four previous successful architectural competitions for other projects, the City has announced a new competition for a design of the new concert hall, combined with the modernization of the City of Ostrava Cultural Centre (Dům kultury města Ostravy). The competition will feature some of the world's top architectural studios – but it will be open to an unlimited number of applicants.
Chassix Inc. company has just announced that the Ostrava, Czech Republic team successfully produced their very first set of trial castings on the 22nd, August 2018. The team worked very hard and the headquarters is very proud of them.
