Ostrava wants to connect with the port in Antwerp

Ostrava is working towards connecting the city and the Mošnov Strategic Industrial Zone with the port city of Antwerp. The city has an exceptionally suitable location for pan-European logistics, together with the construction of the Ostrava Airport Multimodal Park in Mošnov, important regional entreprenuers and new operators in multimodal logistics centre in Mošnov, that all together form a strong argument for a positive outcome in the ongoing strategic negotiations.

Ostrava is working towards connecting the city and the Mošnov Strategic Industrial Zone with the port city of Antwerp.

This is closely related to the construction of the Ostrava Airport Multimodal Park in Mošnov. Concens Investment is planning to build a terminal for which it already has building permits. The first hall, which is now under construction, is gradually welcoming the first operations. One of the possible tenants who expressed interest in the site is DB Schenker, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn and a logistics behemoth. The representatives of the investor are in negotiations not only with the largest operators, but especially among Ostrava, the Moravian-Silesian Region and the Antwerp intermediary.

The Ostrava Mayor Tomáš Macura has already spoken about the connection with the port in Antwerp with the representatives of the ADLER Group. Negotiations will continue with other major businesses in the region.

Mayor Tomáš Macura, and the top management of the company (represented by Radek Veselý, CEO of ADLER Czech, Jan Korol, CEO of ADLER International and Martin Hausenblas, one of the shareholders) agreed that the city has an exceptionally suitable location for pan-European logistics.

"With regard to the strategic location for our distribution to twenty European countries, we have had our central storage facilities in Ostrava since 2010 and we appreciate good cooperation with the city from the very beginning", said Radek Veselý. "Today we have plans to expand our distribution centre, and the acceleration of logistics is undoubtedly a positive step", added Radek Veselý.

ADLER Czech, a.s. is the leader in the brand-name advertising textile market in the Czech Republic and is one of the leading suppliers in Europe. Last year, it also became a European supplier of working clothes. The company has operations in 19 European countries.

Antwerp is the most important European port and the largest in the world in terms of its size. Its area of over 12,000 ha is equivalent to approximately 20,000 football pitches. Marine vessels can carry goods up to 80 kilometres inland. This means that transport via this port to European customers and factories favourably affects its speed and cost.
