Statutory City of Ostrava has once again confirmed its leading position in the national competition Citizen-Friendly Office. The competition recognizes municipalities and city districts that excel in communication with residents and in delivering high-quality services. This year, Kopřivnice took second place in the region, followed by Frýdek-Místek. The overall national winner was Říčany.

Evaluation criteria include client communication, the level of digitalization, sustainability efforts, and public participation. The award highlights offices that provide above-standard services or deliver standard services at an exceptional level.

Deputy Mayor Aleš Boháč commented:
"This award is proof that our city employees do excellent work. It also reflects the continuous development and improvement of the services we provide. Winning for the seventh time in a row shows the consistently high quality of our staff, to whom I would like to extend my sincere thanks. This recognition belongs above all to them. I believe we will continue striving to stay among the very best in the future."

Ostrava’s City Hall serves tens of thousands of clients each year. For example, the Department of Internal Affairs—responsible for issuing ID cards and passports—handles up to 70,000 clients annually, with more than 46,000 requests already processed in the first eight months of 2025.

The Department of Transport Administration manages nearly 442,000 registered vehicles and over 164,000 drivers in Ostrava. Between January and August 2025, almost 65,000 citizens visited counters dealing with vehicle and driver records. More than 3,800 driving theory tests and 5,400 driving exams were also conducted.

The Ostrava Trade Licensing Office currently administers more than 69,000 business entities. Since the beginning of 2025, it has served 9,000 clients at its counters and processed over 4,000 electronic applications.

The award ceremony took place in the historic Mirror Chapel of Prague’s Klementinum, accompanied by the release of a publication showcasing examples of best practices from successful cities and municipalities.
