Cycling Air transport
The bicycle transport started to develop more significantly in Ostrava after 1989 in connection with the development in trade and services within this area and at the same time when the worldwide cycling boom became an important recreation activity. Ostrava is easily accessible by air as well. Leoš Janáček Ostrava International Airport (OSR) is located just 20 km from the city centre and caters to both domestic and international flights, scheduled and chartered.

Public transport

Public transportation in the City of Ostrava is organised by the Integrated Transport System (ODIS) that also provides cooperation with other transportation operators in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

Road transport

The City of Ostrava is an important transport hub and the main intersection of the Moravian-Silesian Region. It is easily accessible from several directions.

Railway transport

There are five railway stations, the most important, Ostrava-Svinov, has recently been modernised. Since 2005 the city is served by the Pendolino, the Czech Republic’s high speed passenger train system.
