European Capital of Culture 2015

Ostrava is a candidate city for European Capital of Culture 2015. One Czech city and one Belgian city will be awarded this prestigious status, which provides a valuable stimulus to cultural life, helping to implement bold new projects and initiatives, build essential infrastructure and establish the winning city firmly on the European cultural map. The Europian Capital of Culture programme was launched over 20 years ago, and has proved to be an outstanding success. Black Meadow - the competiton is annouced

Since the 1st of February a public urban planning competition has been announced for the revitalization of Black Meadow in Ostrava. The deadline for proposals is 31 May. In June, the competition jury will convene. The city could then announce the winning proposal by 30 June 2010. The task of the competition is to draw up a proposal for the spatial and functional concept for Black Meadow. The competition is not concerned with the form of individual structures, but rather it concerns the use of the entire grounds. More...
