A Pole of Development focuses on two closely connected issues. The main issue is Economic Development; the related issue is Transport Accessibility and Mobility.

IDP Ostrava - Pole of development was presented at the integrated planning conference entitled ‘Making Visions Come True’ which was held in Ústí nad Labem on 20 – 21 May 2009. More information is available HERE .

The IDP Ostrava – A Pole of Development focuses on two closely connected issues. The main issue is Economic Development; the related issue is Transport Accessibility and Mobility.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The main focus is on supporting education, science, research and development (including innovation). This is connected with a diversification of the city’s economy, moving away from a dependence on a single type of economic activity and reducing long-term unemployment – which is generally lower among citizens with better qualifications.

TRANSPORT ACCESSIBILITY AND MOBILITY

The current transport infrastructure of the city does not meet the demands placed upon it (either in terms of quality or quantity), which brings a range of problems. The city can expect a further worsening of the transport situation in connection with the scheduled completion of the D47, D1 motorway. The IDP focuses on this issue in order to prevent future critical situations arising within the city’s transport system.

The project preparation for the IDP Ostrava – A Pole of Development was launched by City Council ruling no. 6362/84 dated 13.1.2009.
